Job interviews can feel like a lot. Whether it’s your first step into the world of holiday parks or you’re aiming for your next big move, that mix of excitement and anxiety is completely normal. We talk to candidates every week who say the same thing: ‘I really want this, but I’m so nervous’.

Nerves aren't a bad thing
First of all, let’s be clear; we don’t think nerves aren’t a bad thing. They show you care. They show you’re taking it seriously. And you’re not alone in feeling them.
We’ve helped place people into roles at parks all across the UK, from holiday home sales execs, general managers to back-office support team members. And here’s what we’ve learned:
The people who get hired aren’t always the most polished or perfect. They’re the ones who show up prepared, open, and real. That’s what park managers notice.
So, if you’re feeling a bit jittery, try a few of these calming tips:
1. Breathe! Before you walk in (or hit "join" on a video call), take a slow breath in for 4 counts, hold for 4, and out for 4. Do it a few times. It signals to your body that it’s safe, and helps clear your head.
2. Think of a time you helped someone, solved a tricky problem, or stepped up when it mattered. And bring those stories with you. Real stories make a big impression, especially when they’re grounded in everyday life. You don’t need to be a superhero, just someone who shows up for others.
3. This is your chance to find out if the park’s right for you, too. Ask what a typical day looks like, or what the team cultures like. It shows curiosity, and helps you picture yourself in the role.
4. Holiday parks are full of people who are warm, grounded, and genuine. That’s what park owners value. So don’t worry about being perfect. Just bring your real self.
5. Take a bottle of water with you. Having a sip before answering a question not only keeps your throat hydrated, but also gives you a few precious seconds to think and frame your response.
One last thing:
If your voice wobbles, or your mind goes blank for a moment, that’s OK. You’re human. What matters is that you showed up and you were yourself you can also check out our top 10 holiday park jobs for more career ideas.
